Galleon Marine Boatyard

Highly recommended! My husband and I have just had a fantastic mid week break on one of their narrowboats Teasel and we will definitely be back. The customer service was just brilliant, we were sent so much helpful information before we even arrived, followed by an incredibly detailed handover by Arthur. The boat itself was so lovely and contained everything we could possibly have needed, including things we didn’t know we would need, they really have thought of everything! Hired ‘The Bramble’ 70ft canal boat for my family and we had a lovely time. Went from the boatyard to Odiham Castle - past the Fox and Hounds - back to Odiham Castle - back to the boatyard (Mon - Fri). At the bridge by the castle we stopped off at Mill House pub which was amazing. Saw so much wildlife and was so good to get out the city. Only downside (which was out of Arthur and Karen’s control!) was the weather, gets hot when it’s 35 degrees outside! There’s a few springs scattered around to cool off in tho! Fantastic break.

I really enjoyed the boat ride overall and the staff were very nice. The only downside was that the instructions we were given were extremely misleading. We were told “you can only go that way” and the staff member pointed ahead. Then said ok turn left to go right and vice versa. Very basic instructions. So we assumed that was a rule to only go one way like when you’re driving. I thought oh we must be on some kind of loop and we’ll just come back to the origin eventually. But I started getting anxious about it and called the phone number on Google. She said that no we had to turn around. If the staff member had told us that we need to keep an eye on time to make sure we turned around then that would’ve been so helpful. I’m a very anxious person so I spent the last hour being on edge that we weren’t gonna be back on time which put a massive damper on the experience . I would maybe come back again because now I know the situation, but as first time customers who never did a boat trip before it would’ve been nice if we’d got proper instructions.

Just what we needed on a Bank holiday Monday. The team is so friendly and the experience from picking up the boat to docking it at the end is so pleasant. We have spread the word to several friends and families and we'll definitely be back in the near futrue. We'd recommend the electric four seater boat for families with young children. As you have the option to turn the propeller on or off depending on energy levels.

This is my second experience with Galleon Marine. We hired a narrow boat for the day a few years ago which was a magical rainy day experience! And this week I treated myself to a solo kayak morning. The canal is just blissful on a sunny spring day. Hardly anyone around. Glorious birdlife and solidarity! Just what a busy mum needs sometimes. Such an easy arrival with fantastic parking, useful clean toilet, ‘Hettie’ the horsebox to fulfill and caffeine/sweet treat needs, and swift boarding. Thank you Galleon Marine. I’ll be back.
